Daily SAT 7/18/2022 (Writing and Language)

Questions like this one can be very tricky because every answer choice is very similar, but they all mean slightly different things. Lets go through each answer choice and determine why it is correct or incorrect. Answer choice A uses revise, which may sound correct, but in the sentence Killmonger is described as using Wakanda’s resources to do something to centuries of injustice. Revise would not make sense here because that means he would actually go back in time and actually change history, which he cannot do. This might not be obvious to all readers, but the passage gives context to the fact that, although Wakanda does have very high-tech resources, they cannot be used to do something like time travel. Tailor in answer choice B would also be incorrect because tailor is usually used in the context of something being changed to accommodate a person or a group of people, and again, Killmonger is not actually changing history. Also, tailor is usually used as something is “tailoring to” something, but the word “to” is not present in this case. Answer choice C would be correct, because rectify means that he is not actually changing the history, but what he is doing (or trying to do) is in an effort to correct the centuries of injustice. Answer choice D is incorrect for the same reasons as the other two, it again is trying to say that Killmonger is trying to change history.
